Sustainable development work has been conducted in Finland already for 27 years. Accidents have been reduced by 90 %, energy consumption by 20 %, water consumption by 59 % and greenhouse gas emissions by 34 %. In the Responsible Care programme, corporate responsibility is based on strong interaction and clear goals.

The development of companies’ corporate responsibility work is supported through co-operation in networks and development projects. The results of corporate responsibility work are monitored through indicator data collected annually. In total, more than 60 countries around the world participate in the Responsible Care programme. In Finland, 98 companies have committed to the programme, representing some 80 % of all production in the chemical industry and some 60 % of its employees.
